This course will enable students to understand the most important economic concepts in European integration. The discussion questions / presentations in class will particularly focus on new developments in the economic governance in EMU, including the Macroeconomic Imbalance Procedure, the European Semester, EFSF and ESM, "six pack", "euro plus pact" etc.

History and Institutions, The European Economy, Optimal Currency Areas, Creation of the EMU and Monetary Policy in the EMU, Fiscal Policies and Fiscal Policy Coordination in the EMU

Anmeldungsvoraussetzungen: Positive Beurteilung des Pflichtmoduls Einführung in die Volkswirtschaft gemäß § 9 Abs. 1 und des Pflichtmoduls gem. § 6 Abs. 3 Z 3 Einführung in die Makroökonomik.

Prerequisites are § 9 Abs. 1  Basics of Economics and § 6 Abs. 1 Introduction in Macroeconomics: Circular Flow, Business Cycle, and Economic Growth.
