winter semester 2013/2014 | Last update: 20.05.2014 | Place course on memo listStudent acquire enhanced knowledge on selected issues of the Austrian political system
Conditions and context of party political competition have changed profoundly since late 1970s. This has been the case for both the nature of political preferences among voters (demand side) and programmatic offers of parties and candidates (supply side).
The seminar will be devoted to the study of transformations of party competition in Austria to be contextualized in trends and developments taking place in the peer-group of postindustrial societies in affluent Western European democracies. For sake of cross-country comparability, our focus will be on national level politics.
Continuous assessment (based on regular written and/or oral contribution by participants).
Will be introduced in the first lesson
