Expansion and consolidation of specific knowledge in the field of Austrian history by examination of new and uncommon topics, taking into account current tendencies and controversies of research, applying scientific skills (methods and working techniques) and linking with basic content, development of skills for the independent formulation of historical questions.

The course intends to address a blank space of historiography:  the work of women in agriculture during the First World War. Economic and gender history have not really covered that field. Therefore this course deals with the changed working fields and living spheres of peasant women and female servants (which specific male occupations had to be fulfilled after the mobilization of men, which consequences had this on women etc.). The course takes place in cooperation with the South Tyrolean Provincial museum for folk life. The seminar papers simulate to prepare specific topics for an exhibition.

Individual and group research activities, acquisition of current scientific discourse, on historical sources and objects on the chosen topic through reading and exercises; comments, oral presentation, written paper;  attendance at all sessions,.
