Knowledge of basic assumptions, fundamental and theoretical concepts of humanistic schools of therapy. Understanding of core techniques, the effectiveness of the individual methods as well as their fields of application. A critical examination of the methods and their status in significance for the psychotherapeutic landscape.

The lecture is concerned with the three most important humanistic therapy methods:

Client-Centered Counseling according to C. Rogers,

Gestalt Therapy according to F. & L. Perls,

Psychodrama according to J. L. Moreno,

Logotherapy according to V. Frankl.

The presentation will focus on the following aspects:

• Reflections on the image of mankind;
• Origin and history, basic terms & fundamental concepts, characteristics & paradigms of humanistic psychotherapy in general as well as the respective therapeutic methods in particular;
• The development of mental disorders, the health profile & the pathological picture from the respective method’s point of view;
• Methods & fields of application;
• Interventions – the therapeutic process in practice;
• Effectiveness, possibilities and limits.

Lecture, exercises, discussion, presentation of working methods by means of demonstration, film footage & media-supported case studies.
