Students should be able to analyse, figure out and interpret data from (own) surveys. Statistics as a scientific method is a procedure with defined and written standards to act with data. We will have a closer look to different phenomena: e.g., the number of applicants for IT-Jobs, distribution of marks – students should be able to analyse data, figure them out and discuss the results, depending to their hypothesis.

Organisation and description of data – types of scales – statistical data – standardization of data – normal distribution – random sampling – t-test – strategies in defining hypothesis – decision rules – confidence intervals

Public speaking, academic exercises, presentations, practical researches

Course with formative assessment, i.e., students are graded on the basis of written and/or oral tasks assigned regularly over the term.
