Students can recognize the historical determination of body and experience including relevant theories.

The lecture will deal with the history of the body and its cultural codifications from the Renaissance till today. The focus will be on stagings of the body that represented the religious, gender-political, and social orders in European culture and that help decode the breaks in the history of how the „alien“ and the „self“ were being perceived.
