Theoretical exploration of and personal sensitizing for concepts of norm, discourses about normality and the reality of normalization processes in social publics, educational institutions, private contexts and subcultures.

Historical and current inquiries into identity and modern subjectivity will be dealt with along the categories of gender/s and sexuality/ies. Which normalisations are we subjected to both in- and outside? Which normality do we presuppose as the ‘right’ one? Which modes of desire were and are still excluded by the mainstream? By means of concepts critical of gender, theories of sexuality as well as texts and the history / stories of liberation movements, social models and our own imprinting will be questioned.

Introductions and surveys on theorems of a ‘normal’ concept of the human being; development of presentations in small groups (including handouts); joint reflections in the plenary; elements of practice regarding our own self-concept; film materials.

Uninterrupted presence, active participation, presentation, written final paper

Will be announced and presented in the first meeting

No double assignment with other courses!
