The students are able to reflected the life phase of youth as a social construction. They acquire knowledge of historical and present youth research as well as central youth theoretical concepts.

How the stage of life of 'youth' is embodied in a society is subject to historical, cultural and social transformation processes. Within modern knowledge societies there are different ideas of what 'youth' is and how it should be.

The course focuses on different forms of margnialized youth, ie the life situation of adolescents who, in addition to the specific developmental requirements of the life stage of youth, are faced with coping with precarious or difficult life situations. On the one hand we will discuss the specific life situation for example of adolescents in residential care, LGBTIQ youth (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersexual and queer), unaccompanied minor refugees, NEET youth ("not in education, employment or training") etc. On the other hand the question about the pedagogical accompaniment of these young people will also be asked.
