Basic knowledge of the Hellenistic Period.

The political history of the Hellenistic Period (Alexander the Great, Diadochi, Roman expansion) presents itself dynamically and multi-faceted. Parallel to this, different aspects of the Hellenistic world from the outgoing 4th to the 1st century BC. will be presented: Pluralism of cults and religions as well as different forms of life (cosmopolitanism, citizen identity, elites), and the function of the Hellenistic courts as cultural centers, the legitimacy and representation of rulership, the role that royal women play at Hellenistic courts and the significance of cities during that time.
