The students should

  • get a good understanding of the present state of Christian-Muslim dialogue.
  • develop a good understanding of the key points in Christian-Muslim dialogue today.
  • get to know some of the experts in the different aspects of the topic working inside and outside the Kircher network.
  • develop a good understanding of the differences in each country when facing religious pluralism and Muslim presence in concrete.  
  • learn openness and sensibility to the role of religion in building peaceful democratic societies.

The theological framework for the Christian-Muslim dialogue will be reviewed and enriched by interdisciplinary and comparative perspectives. The course´s core will be a theology of Christian-Muslim dialogue at the intersection of practical and systematic reflections.

The course will combine online asynchronous and synchronous learning activities.
a.    Prior to the online session: In an asynchronous mode, students will have to complete the readings assigned for the session and participate in an Online Forum .
b.    Video conferencing synchronous sessions: Each 90 minutes-session would consist of a synchronous class offered through video conferencing. Each session will include the following teaching and learning activities:
1.    Lecture (30 minutes)
2.    Discussion in small groups (15 minutes)
3.    Assembly discussion (15 minutes)
4.    Deepening on the readings with different pedagogical methods (i.e. Padlets , YouTube videos, Arte TV...)  (20 minutes)
5.    Final synthesis (10 minutes)

Active participation in class (20%) and final paper (80%).
