Acquisition of basic knowledge of questions, methods and problem areas of philosophy as well as philosophical-scientific work.

In addition to a general introduction to the methods of academic work and an approach to the question of what distinguishes philosophical thinking from other forms of intellectual production, the most important problems, subject areas and methodological approaches in philosophy will be presented and discussed together.

We will take contemporary approaches in political and moral philosophy as an occasion to explore different types of texts (and other forms of presentation) together. By way of example, we will work on the questions presented by the respective thinkers - very close to the text.

Political aesthetics

Critical theory

Political phenomenology

Decolonial theory

Feminist, gender and queer theory

Using selected texts as examples, we will also explore the traditions of thought in which they are embedded. However, we will not proceed chronologically, but rather try to gain an insight into the most important references in the history of philosophy.

One or two excursions into non-university spaces are intended to indicate the horizon into the interfaces of philosophy with other ways of experiencing the world.
