Learning Outcome:

Participants in this module shall acquire basic knowledge in the field of electromagnetism and optics, and the ability to comprehend and apply the underlying concepts. The competence to be able to acquire similar concepts by self-study is a central training focus.

Contents:

Maxwell's equations with applications in electrostatics, magnetostatics and electrodynamics; wace propagation and intereference; diffraction gratings and interferometry; optics in isotropic and anisotropic media; (laser) beam spreading.
