222062 VO Selected topics in Christian Social Teaching: Technology as an ethical challenge
winter semester 2024/2025 | Last update: 14.05.2024 | Place course on memo listStudents are able to take a critical look at technological developments from the perspective of humanities and ethics. In doing so, they are particularely asking for the motives and objectives of developments and confront these with a Christian understanding of man and society.
Historical and current developments in technology are examined and illuminated from an ethical perspective. This is based on an anthropology that understands humans as beings who necessarily develop technology. However, there is also the danger of allowing artefacts to determine one's own life and social development in an inappropriate manner. It is therefore necessary to ask for a culture in which technical developments serve the good life and allow a sustainable approach to nature.
