summer semester 2025 | Last update: 07.05.2025 | Place course on memo listTo familiarize students with different approaches to performance studies as they apply to the study of literature, theater, film and media.
This seminar sets out to explore performative dimensions in a variety of art forms and media, including written and oral literatures, theater, music, cinema, video, digital media, and installation art. We will approach notions of performativity through an interdisciplinary framework that draws on insights from anthropology, linguistics, sociology, gender studies, film and media studies. We will examine the cultural relevance of perfomance as processes and practices that generate and innovate forms of knowledge, mediation, and critical interventions.
