Here is the translated text in English:

Students recognize and explore current discourses and issues in geographical tourism research and human-environment studies, while also engaging with potential future perspectives.

As part of the seminar course, participants will work on and acquire the following skills:

  • Conducting a search, selection, and evaluation of relevant literature
  • Structuring and analyzing a selected seminar topic in human geography
  • Presenting the developed outline using a "Pecha Kucha" presentation format, followed by critical reflection
  • Writing a seminar paper based on the developed and critically reviewed outline
  • Presenting the key aspects and conclusions of the written work in a freely chosen presentation format within the plenary session

In addition to these core elements, repeated discussion phases will help participants practice expression and argumentation skills.

In the course, current concepts and thematic areas of geographical tourism research will be illustrated using various examples from rural areas. A particular spatial focus will be on mountain regions.

A central component of the course is the analysis of different (tourism-related) discourses on rural areas and the deconstruction of existing development paradigms. Furthermore, geographical tourism research will be used to identify perspectives and alternative development strategies for rural areas, which will be demonstrated through specific examples.

  • Writing texts according to academic quality standards
  • Oral presentations and freely chosen presentation formats
  • Plenary discussions with other participants
  • Inputs from the course instructor
  • "Tourism Walk"
  • World Café
