Basic knowledge of private law harmonization initiated by the European Union (contracts, torts, consumer law, conflict of laws)

Contents:

General Introduction into European Private Law with a particular emphasis on the law of contracts, consumers, and torts as well as conflicts of laws.

Methods:

auditorium lecture with discussion; presentation of norm texts and leading cases to be discussed in break-out groups first and in the plenum afterwards

Assessment:

Final examination: Written test (when at least five candidates) or oral exam
