The students can apply methods of participatory product development and creativity techniques, and design assistive solutions in interdisciplinary teams with experts. They are able to systematically analyze real needs and challenges, address them with appropriate concepts, and construct prototypes based on these. They can critically evaluate the approaches they develop by weighing their benefits and making well-founded judgments. Moreover, they can recognize the societal significance of their projects and the relevance of inclusion, situate these within a broader context, and apply their technical and methodological knowledge in concrete, practice-oriented projects.

As part of the course, students from various disciplines work together with people with disabilities to develop innovative approaches to assistance and support. Building on the taught methods of participatory product development, real-world needs are analyzed, concepts are derived, and these are iteratively developed into a prototype. The project work—where the interdisciplinary small groups are responsible for planning, implementation, and execution—is accompanied by supervisors.

The course focuses on student project work as an overarching method, which is supported by different formats to teach content of participatory product development and project management.

Examination performance combines the interim and final presentations as well as the project report.

The specific problems to be chosen are determined together with people with disabilities before the start and announced during the event.
