Knowledge of fundamental positions in Gender Studies. Conciousness about problems related to gender justice and gender mainstreaming in the context of architecture.

EQUAL SPACE - Gender equitable strategies in the field of tension between equality and diversity

The course analyzes the interconnection of gender, race and class along key texts, architecture and artistic interventions. What will and who builds city? What are regulations and exclusions – where are gaps? How can equality be developed without negating diversity?
These issues will be reflected along the interdisciplinary gender studies and gender-friendly building will be critically discussed.

Reading and discussion of key texts, research and reflection on architecture and artistic interventions, short presentations as a basis for discussion. Essays by students. Spatial analyses in small groups of at least three people. Lecture, ongoing input and supervision of presentations and spatial analyses by the course leader.

Compulsory presence, presentation, essays. Creation of a room analysis with solutions for transformation and improvement.
