Reading and contextualisation of historiographical texts, Examination of the history of reception, interpretation with taking gender dimensions into account.

Overview and critical discussion of the concept intersectionality. Practice of key skills such as reading and interpretation skills, also using English texts.

Judith Butler has made important contributions in many areas. These contributions concern not only the deconstruction or construction of the social category of gender, but also subject formation, war and peace, hatred and violence, and much more. Have you heard of Butler but never read anything by her? Or do you think that her work has nothing to do with history? We will examine and discuss various texts by Judith Butler, as well as works from the field of history that engage with Butler.

Discussion of theoretical and methodological texts, reading, presentations of the texts and moderation of discussions by students, inputs from the course instructor, oral and written assignments during the semester.

Attendance, continuous participation and active participation in discussion, moderating a discussion, written assignments during the semester.
