Students can explain the processes that form the world's major landscapes, and can identify the key drivers of these processes, specifically the role of human impact. 

We will start with a discussion of geomorphic starting points including the form-process relationship and equilibrium assumptions. The value of geomorphology's conceptual, physical and mathematical models is explored. After this, the first main part of the course discusses the world's major landscape and their landforms in the context of the climatic and tectonic drivers as well as the processes that shaped them. The second main part of the course discusses key methods and datasets about global variation in key geomorphic quantities such as erosion rates, and identifies the current human impact on these quantities.
