significance and their role in protecting intangible assets. They will learn to understand the basic concepts of patents, their role in promoting innovation, and the social and economic benefits they offer, as well as the importance of patent databases and their role in research and

development.

The MIPEF Entry Level Course consists of several modules, starting with an introduction to the main intellectual property (IP) systems. It offers a comprehensive overview of the entire patent lifecycle- from application and grant procedures to enforcement and IP strategy. The programme ultimately equips participants with a solid understanding of how IP fosters technological development and drives innovation. Learning is dynamic and practice-oriented, thanks to a wide range of engaging resources.

The European Patent Office's MIPEF education program is offered free of charge to European universities and their students. Upon successful completion of each module (entry level and advanced level), students receive 3 ECTS credits from the UIBK and additionally a certificate from the European Patent Office.
