The students are familiar with the basics of solar radiation and its passive effect, photovoltaic power generation (PV), solar thermal heat generation (ST), have in-depth knowledge of application-relevant and system-technical topics of the integration of solar power utilization and solar heat utilization in the building itself, but also in the context of sector coupling in the context of the higher-level energy economy, especially in combination with heat pumps and district heating systems.

Basics of solar radiation

PV - Photovoltaics: Technical basics of photovoltaic cells and modules, basics of system design with possibilities of optimized and efficient use of electrical consumers (e.g. batteries, heat pumps, e-mobility, etc.), connection to the electrical grid and challenges with high distribution, photovoltaic market and economic efficiency. The possible role of PV in the future energy market, technology perspectives.

ST - Solar thermal: Basics of heat and mass transport with derivation of collector efficiency and its dependencies, collector design and technology, collector hydraulics, heat storage, control, system integration in hot water, heating, industrial and district heating systems, dimensioning, optimization, simulation, standardization, funding

Lecture with built-in calculation examples and introduction and use of simulation tools
