Basic knowledge of the Ugaritic language, learning how to work with grammatical and lexical tools and independent reading of Ugaritic texts

The course offers an introduction of the Ugaritic grammar and an overview of the literary tradition of Ugarit.

 

Continuous assessment (based on regular written and/or oral contribution by participants).

List of suggested reading will be distributed at the beginning of the course

Previous knowledge is not recquired but beneficial. At least one Semitic language should serve as a basis, e.g. Akkadian, Arabic, Hebrew, Aramaic, Syrian.

Due to substantial differences in the allocation of ECTS-Credits in various curricula (BA Classica et Orientalia 2009 and BA Classica et Orientalia 2015), the requirements for this course vary. Information will be provided by the instructor at the beginning of the course.
