An introduction to the principles of economics; the economics of the firm, including market demand and the costs of production; the market structures of American capitalism; the pricing of products and employment of resources including the determinants of wages, interest, rents, and profits.
This is ECON 101, Microeconomics. The course will cover the basics of supply and demand, production and cost, markets and how they operate and marginal analysis – how to make decisions. There will be a major emphasis on an introduction to international trade and finance. There will also be some coverage of the role of government versus markets in obtaining optimal outcomes.
