The goal of this course is to familiarise students whose native language is not English with English legal texts (cases, textbooks, etc.) and to introduce them to basic legal terminology in different fields of law.
This particular course will focus on different aspects of the legal system of England and Wales as well as European Law.
Participants will be asked to read assigned texts (cases, excerpts from textbooks etc.) for each class. Reading assignments will be handed out in advance. It is essential to do the reading and to participate in class in order to earn a certificate (Übungszeugnis). The final grade shall be determined on the basis of oral participation as well as a written exam at the end of the semester.
