Learning Outcome:

The seminar "soft justice vs repression postmoderne deals with the sentences and foensic commitment of perpetrators. One the one hand new initaitives and possibilities allowing other means of enforcing sentences such as the electronic ankle bracelet have let to outdries by the public of a justice too soft and too much in favour of the perpetrators. The orensic committment of offenders which can and in practice often does lead to lifelong deprivation of liberty is in conflict with the rights guaranteed by the ECHR. The seminar will shed a light on these two diverging trends from the point of view of the 4 participating countries Austria, Switzerland, Germany and France.

The seminar "soft justice vs repression postmoderne" is held in Freudenstadt, Germany by the Universities of Basel (CH), Tübingen (Dt), Strasbourg (Frankreich) und Innsbruck from May 6 to May 8. 2015.
