In this seminar we are concerned with major problems and theories of freedom of speech. These include: Freedom of speech between morality and law; freedom of speech in the history of ideas; freedom of speech in different legal systems worldwide; freedom of speech in the ECtHR framework; freedom of speech as a negative and/or positive right; freedom of speech and social media; the right to freedom of expression as a human right and the question of hierarchy among values and norms; „hate speech“; “defamation of religion”; genocide denial; democratic ethics of political conflicts; academic freedom.

* Since the number of participants is strictly limited, we ask for binding registrations only please.
* The first few sessions will be conducted as online classes and then we move to in-person classes (with highest possible covid-19 prevention measures).
