The internal market and the fundamental freedoms are at the core of European integration. The ECJ has developed a comprehensive body of case-law in these areas over the last few decades, however, there are examples of the Court's jurisprudence being incorporated differently into the Member States’ legal systems. Against this background, this course presents a comparative analysis of the ECJ case-law on the internal market and fundamental freedoms from the perspective of the Anglo-Saxon and Germanic Legal Traditions.
The two instructors representing the two traditions (Andreas Müller of the Department of European Law and Public International Law and Stefanie Ripley, PhD Researcher King's College London) will explore - together with the participants of the course - European and national court cases, textbooks, academic articles etc from the United Kingdom and Austria and Germany in a workshop-style course.
