The students work independently on a topic in the field of sustainability. They evaluate the topic from several and even opposing points of view (such as cultural, professional, ethical views).

To this end, they write an independent seminar paper, which they present in discourse with professors and other students. In doing so, the students should critically examine existing proposals for solutions. In doing so, the students should critically examine existing proposals for solutions. Students show competence in formulating a clear and insightful problem, taking into account all relevant contextual factors. Through discussion rounds, students identify several approaches that are suitable in the chosen context to solve the described problem under the aspect of sustainability. Students are able to propose solutions that take into account both contextual legal factors and all of the following: ethical, logical and cultural dimensions of the problem.

In view of the ongoing climate crisis, there is no alternative to a sustainable transformation of society. Law can also contribute to a more sustainable society. Therefore, in the seminar, we will deal in particular with the areas of corporate law, antitrust law and contract law and shed light on different levers that can be used to promote sustainability in these areas as well. The seminar is also intended to encourage interdisciplinary thinking and work in order to find the best possible solutions to the complex issues involved.
