Acquisition of basic statistical knowledge, ability to analyse, discuss and solve simple statistical problems, application of statistical software

Contents:

Descriptive statistics, probability theory, principles of estimation and testing theory, contingency tables, correlation and regression, case studies

Methods:

Lecture, proseminars with excercises at the computer using statistics software

Assessment:

Online-tests and one written proseminar exam, project. For details see the syllabus

Fahrmeir, Künstler, Pigeot, Tutz, 2007: Statistik, Der Weg zur Datenanalyse, Springer Verlag, Berlin.
