This course is intended to provide an introduction to the approach and methods of behavioral economics, and to some of its major findings, applications, and promising new directions

Departures from perfect self-control (Time inconsistencies). The discounted utility model (DU): historical origin, the DU model, features of the DU model. Observed DU anomalies: hyperbolic discount, others anomalies. Alternative models: models of hyperbolic discounting and self awareness, habit formation models, reference-point models, utility from anticipation, multiple-self model, temptation utility. Measuring time discounting.

Lectures and excercises

The course will be completed with a written exam

Prerequisites: Fundamental concepts of Game theory, good knowledge of mathematics (specially algebraic manipulation and solutions of system of equations)
