summer semester 2023 | Last update: 10.08.2023 | Place course on memo listUnderstanding economic concepts and analytical tools that are relevant for problems of information asymmetries; learning to use these concepts in various applications in the field of economics.
Information is of strategic importance. In many economic situations, agents have different amounts of information about a characteristic that is relevant for a mutual agreement. The better informed party can exploit the information gap and gain some advantage. In this course, we will study different types of information asymmetries, how they can be dealt with by designing appropriate incentives and contracts, and which effect they have on the market equilibrium. Applications include industrial economics, insurance, and labour economics.
