This course will enable students to understand the most important economic concepts in European integration.
1. Introduction - History and Institutions - The European Economy 2. Preferential Trading Areas - Traditional Theories: Trade Creation and Trade Diversion - New Trade Theories 3. Microeconomic Policies - Common Agricultural Policy - Competition Policy - External Trade Policy - Regional Policy - Social Policy 4. Macroeconomic Policies in the EMU - Optimal Currency Areas - Creation of the EMU - Monetary Policy in the EMU - Fiscal Policies in the EMU
Students have to read the chapters provided in the e-campus and have to submit weekly assignments. Each assignment will be evaluated and feedback will be provided.
