This course is devoted to an inquiry into Foucault's concept of biopolitics, and the significance of this idea for social theory and organization theory. Each session will be split into two parts. The first part of each lecture will be based around a book that I am currently writing onbiopolitics. The second part of each lecture will involve a discussion of chapters of Michel Foucault's book, "The Birth of Biopolitics: Lectures at the College De France 1978-1979". Ideally, participants should read the first Chapter of Foucault's book, "The Birth of Biopolitics", before the first lecture. The relevant books have been ordered for the library.
