For managing human resources, knowledge about what happens in firms and in labour markets is needed. In this course, students acquire the method equipment for gaining useful knowledge for managing human resources. The course is designed to enable students developing a solid understanding of decisions in human resource research, practically examining empirical methods and communication of insights to decision-makers in firms as well as critically reflecting the learning process. 

• Building on insights of action research, we first elaborate how human resource research is able to produce practically useful knowledge. Due to these insights, we focus on exploratory research designs and learning processes in the course. We address one specific human resources problem of a real firm for familiarising us with suitable methods of data collection and analysis. Furthermore, we address legal and ethical considerations.

The course involves input by lectures, practical exercises on data collection and analysis, excursions to the cooperating firm as well as student presentations.

Positive Beurteilung der Pflichtmodule gemäß § 7 Abs. 2 Z 2 und 3 Organisationsgestaltung sowie Kommunikation und Konflikt.

Die Anwesenheit bei der Vorbesprechung ist für die Teilnahme an diesem Modul unbedingt erforderlich.

Eine Anmeldung erfolgt grundsätzlich zu den interaktiven Lehrveranstaltungen wie zB SE, UE, PS oder AG (beim MA Wirtschaftsinformatik auch für VO).

Wird die/der Studierende nach Ende der Anmeldefrist der MA-Studien von Status „Anmeldewunsch“ auf den Status „Anmeldung bestätigt“ gestellt, wird die/der Studierende in die zum Modul gehörende VO (oder VU) automatisch angemeldet.
