After successfully finishing this course students

- are able to reflect their research ideas in the light of general requirements and standards for dissertations;

- are prepared to write a successful dissertation proposal;

- can competently identify and distinguish methodological positions in social sciences and economics;

- are able to discuss and evaluate the implications of the methodological positions for their own PhD research project.

- Role of theory

- Methodology, ontology, and epistemology for PhD research projects

- Comparative discussion of methodological approaches

Short lecturer inputs; readings; in-class group work and discussions

Task assignments and term papers.
