- integrate knowledge from previous strategic management courses in a complex, dynamic digital market environment
- understand the key elements of the strategic management process through simulation
- understand the economic of digital businesses (e.g. understand dynamics of strategy and competition in platform markets; learn how to manage subscription-based technology businesses; understand how to deal with disruption created by technology substitution; learn the importance of strategic focus and differentiation in competitive strategy)
- improve skills in information analysis and intepretation
- demonstrate good team skills in a stressful environment
- understand the linkage between strategy, finance, innovation and marketing
This course provides students with a unique, integrative learning experience through their active participation in a digital strategy simulation, which places students in the shoes of the chief strategy officer for a digital services provider. The company is active in the contemporary digital services industry, which is going through a major technology change. Students will need to make strategic decisions relating to services development, pricing, capital investments, operating expenses and technology investment under changing market conditions and in the context of competitors’ actions to grow their company into the most valuable competitor in highly competitive markets.
