In this course, the basics of service design and innovation will be worked out and the concept of Design Thinking will be introduced. Students learn about the different phases of a design process and apply appropriate service design methods in order to finally be able to place an independently designed service. Students are able to develop innovation solutions by applying Design Thinking.

Teaching of the latest innovation approaches and methods that are necessary for the innovation management of sustainable solutions in innovation ecosystems: 

  • Designerly Thinking and Design Thinking: Similarities and Differences
  • Design and innovation/new product development: state-of-the-art techniques and application
  • The consumer as co-producer: How can the consumer contribute to service design processes? 

Innovation Sprint (group and individual assignments);
During the innovation sprint, students develop solutions for corporate challenges. The students take different theoretical and practical perspectives in order to arrive at well-founded decisions, which are then presented in front of an audience. The teams are accompanied by experienced innovation coaches and present a prototype at the end. The best teams will be awarded.
