Learning Outcome:

Students who passed this moduls are able to understand, describe and apply the contents of the lectures. They should be capable to acquire similar contents in an independent way. Furthermore they should have attained basic understanding for the basic logic structures in computer science.

Contents:

The lecture gives an overview of the major topics of computer science and teaches basics enabling further studies.

Chapters:

Computation (Boolean logic und computer arithmetic)
Information (information theory, data structures, coding)
Language (state machines, formal languages, halting problem)
Complexity (analysis of algorithms, complexity classes)
Networks (selected internet protocols, principles of distributed systems)

Assessment:

Continuous assessment (regular written tests on lecture and homework contents)
