Knowledge of philosophical positions and controversies concerning human nature

What is the human being? Or is this question even legitimate in view of the diversity of human modes of existence? The philosophical tradition has always located man in the field of tension between opposites: between animal and God, between mind and body, between passions and reason, between good and evil, between freedom and determinism, between nature and technology. In the 1920s, "philosophical anthropology" finally emerged as an independent genre that attempted to work through scientific findings in order to determine the nature of man. While negative or paradoxical answers often predominated in the 20th century, the question is posed once again in a different light in the age of the Anthropocene.
