The course offers a fresh view of Umar Khayyam’s philosophy through his poetry. His Hellenistic, Islamic and Buddhist education and doctrine will be put in perspective in his 11th- 12th century surroundings. Rumi and Hafiz both Islamic mystics and poets never ceased to influence the generations of thinkers in the orient and later in the West. Their romantic and realistic world views, esoteric experiences and anthropological as well as their philosophical visions will be investigated and interpreted through their poetry in their original Persian language.
