In this seminar we will work on central questions of the philosophy of evolution in a systematic way. These include: The history and development of the theory(s) of evolution; multi-level selection; evolution and phylogeny; man as a special animal; human breeding and "transhumanistic" visions; evolutionary epistemology; evolutionary ethics; sociobiology of altruism; sociobiology of violence; sociobiology of gender relations; freedom and determination; naturalistic images of man and the charge of "biologism" or reductionism;
