		-               To offer an overview of key concepts of Cultural Studies, focussing particularly on British and Anglophone contexts.
-	To explore accessible routes through cultural analyses, using varied approaches and methods.
-	To engage students in applying principles acquired to contemporary examples of Anglophone cultures.
-	To encourage intermedial and interdisciplinary approaches.
		-               Areas covered include: What is ‘culture’? Identity and Difference, Representations, Basic Semiotics, History and Memory, Heritage, Cultural Geographics, Cultural Value (High and Popular Culture), etc.
		-               Intensive interdisciplinary course which is largely interactive, with a weekly task to prepare in advance for critical discussion in each following session. There will also be several writing assignments (to be collected in a dossier).
		-               Assessment by dossier, active participation, 90-min end-of-term test.
		-               Basic coursebook (a prerequisite for the course, available in Studia): Studying Culture – A Practical Introduction (2nd ed.), J. Giles & T. Middleton (Blackwell, 2008); Britain, J. O’Driscoll (OUP, 2009)
-	Background reading: British Civilization, J. Oakland (Routledge, 2002); British Culture, D. Christopher (Routledge, 2006).
