Objectives: to encourage an interest in reading skills with particular emphasis on skimming and scanning texts Writing: Objectives: to introduce the conventions of effective writing highlighting language, structure and content.
Reading: Content: a variety of texts on everyday topics (cf. CEFR topics) Writing: Content: a) a variety of paragraph types, e.g. descriptive, narrative, definition b) a basic introduction to summary writing
Method: a) intensive study of texts for structural elements, i.e. coherence and cohesion, b) in-class analysis of student-written paragraphs c) simple summaries d) perfecting language skills, structure and content
Exam Modus: written tests of reading and writing skills + Course Assessment: regular written work
