To activate C1 + level listening and speaking skills from CEFR (Common European Framework of References for Languages). To activate an understanding of more complex and argumentative and specialised listening texts and an appreciation of nuances, including allusion, humour, word-play, etc. To promote the ability to communicate effectively in discussions and problem-solving tasks.

Listening: podcasts, web links, vlogs etc Speaking: a variety of topics including contemporary issues and problems.

Interactive teacher-student approach, group work, class discussion, presentations (speeches, 'Dragon's Den', infomercials), listening journal, detailed descriptions of pictures/ cartoons (explaining humour, word play etc.).

Listening final exam. Oral final exam. Exam dates to be announced in the course.
