To encourage a critical approach to and appreciation of texts (journalistic, literary etc.) and practise discourse and critical writing modes and summary writing skills.
Reading discursive texts of a challenging nature (C1+). Learning and applying the forms of argumentative essay writing and effective summary skills.
Reading: Text analysis and close reading (irony, humour, allusion etc.), focusing on argumentative techniques and points of view.
Writing: a) in-class analysis of students' work and perfection of discursive writing techniques.
b) summarising C1+ texts.
Final written exam and regular writing assignments.
