The lecture will provide an introduction to and overview of the main
fields of applied linguistics. These will include established
so-called, 'hyphen-linguistic' categories such as sociolinguistics and
psycholinguistics as well as more specific topics including language
planning, language change, societal and individual multilingualism.
Particular attention will be paid to issues of language learning and
language teaching in a multilingual context.
