American Literature: Contextualizing the Reading List

The course will provide a survey of the development of American literature from the beginnings to the present. It will focus on the literary genres of the novel, the short story, poetry, and drama, as well as on literary movements, historical backgrounds, and cultural aspects. The requirement for BA students is a written paper, its presentation in class, as well as participation in the discussions. The requirement for LA and Diplom is a presentation in class and participation in discussions.
