The course will start out from a general discussion of the theme and its cultural and theoretical connotations and then concentrate on the analysis of a number of crucial texts, works of art, and films.
Reading of the texts and viewing of the films in class; participation in class discussions, an 18-20 page paper and a 2-3 page handout. 15 minutes presentation in class; two appointments with the course leader.

anrechenbar für American Literature oder American Culture. Students must have passed the "Introduction to American Literature and Culture" to attend this course
