to investigate the political, social, and financial reasons for American filmmakers to come to Austria or Europe in order to make films;
to analyse the genres used (the musical, the romance, the war film, the spy film, satire);
to deal with the themes and film techniques in close analyses of sequences, shots, and frames.
Projects with presentation, film viewing out of class, film analysis, group work, class discussion, PS paper OR film
written and oral
Priority will be given to Film & Media Studies students. Participants must have done the "Introduction to Film Studies." For American Culture credit students must have also passed the "Introduction to American Literature and Culture." (With AYA students)
